Postcard from Versailles

I cannot believe it's been a week since our trip with Andrea to one of the most beautiful places on earth - Versailles in France! It was a crazy, fun and all at the same time relaxing few days we spent in a wonderful hotel Les Etangs de Corot.

There;s actually a beautifully written blog post by Andrea that I think you should definitely check out!

Day 1
Travelling London St Pancras to Paris Nord

It wasn't an early start to the day which usually is the case when travelling. Our train was leaving before midday from London St Pancras train station. We agreed to meet a little early to make sure we are on time and have nothing to worry about. Little did we know we would have to queue up to get through the check-in area and finally get on the train half an hour behind the schedule.

Arriving to Paris was a pinch-me moment (did I mention I had never been to France before?..) It was a short moment before catching the uber to our final destination - hotel in Les Etangs de Corot, Versailles.
We spent the evening exploring the area, enjoying a wonderful dinner in a tree-house restaurant, or at least that's what we called it for the entire stay, Terrace Les Paillotes, with a view to the nearby lake. The atmosphere was wonderful and despite the sudden drop in temperature and thunderstorm, we truly had a great first evening in France.

Day 2
Trip to Palais de Versailes

Early start to the day with a 7:30 am alarm and breakfast, short uber ride to the palace and an 8 hour venture around the grounds of Palais de Versailles.

It was a spectacular experience just to walk the paths of one of the most famous monuments of worlds heritage (I'm a massive history geek by nature). The palace with its countless apartments and world known Hall of mirrors, geometric maze-like gardens with golden fountains only gives a little insight into the rich history of France. It's truly a place to visit!

After such a long venture we were more than ready for our delicious dinner at the second restaurant within the hotel - Le Cafe des Artistes. We had a beautifully cooked fish with roasted vegetables and, of course a bottle of white wine to share. We are in France after all!

Day 3
Brunch, Spa and visit to Paris

Day three was our last day in Ville-d'Avray before heading back to Paris to catch Eurostar back home. It wasn't a particularly busy day and what's a better start to a day than eggs cooked in my favourite bain marie way and an hour at the hotel's spa!

After the check-out we decided to go to Paris and enjoy a cup of coffee at one of the Instagram famous restaurants Pink Mama. I truly enjoyed being in Paris, even though it was such a short while. I will definitely go back as soon as I get the chance!

pour te voir
